In this interactive workshop, participants gain knowledge and skills to effectively respond to disclosures from adult victim survivors of all genders.
Workshops are co-facilitated by our training team and a counsellor advocate.
The content is highly interactive and draws on CASA House’s intersectional feminist and trauma-informed frameworks to support participants to:
- Explore various definitions of sexual assault and the context in which they apply
- Understand the structural issues which perpetuate sexual assault, and how they apply to disclosures
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of consent
- Understand the impacts of sexual violence has on the lives of those affected
- Explore frameworks for responding to disclosures, including ‘Rights Options Control’
- Identify pathways for support for victim survivors of recent and historical sexaul assault
A few considerations for attending online training:
- Please ensure you join the online workshop from a private space. This is both in consideration of the content as well as other participants’ privacy.
- The workshop is structured to sequentially build skills and knowledge over the course of the day. For this reason, it is essential to be there for the entire duration: 9.30am-4.30pm. Please let us know in advance if this is not possible. We withhold the right to reschedule or refund your ticket in this case.
- We ask that cameras are on for the duration of the workshop, to support engagement, participation and connection with the group.
- Our workshop is designed to be interactive, rather than lecture style. Your active participation in various group activities and discussions will be integral to the success of the day.
- For groups of people attending, please ensure each participant joins the workshop from their own individual device. This helps with fostering connection between each participant and the larger group.
