An Introduction to Group Dynamics – Online Workshop

In this introductory online workshop, participants will be introduced to the basics of group dynamics theory and their implications for facilitation practice. This short training is suitable for facilitators and managers of all kinds and sizes of groups – especially for those engaging with members of the public.

We will look at different theories: including models from Eric Berne’s Transactional Analysis and the psychoanalytic models of Bion and Foulkes. The focus will be on practically useful tools for group facilitators.

Topics we’ll cover:

• Group goals and tasks
• Group structures
• The holding function
• Intersectionality and presence
• Unconscious group processes
• The relationship between creativity and challenge
• Stages of group development
• Beginnings, muddles and endings

This workshop will be held on Zoom and participants will be emailed a link and information at least one week before the workshop. Participants are required to be available for the whole duration of the workshop.
